Praxis Framework has been the body of knowledge on the Australian Institute of Project Management (AIPM) members portal since 2019. APMG interviewed AIPM to find out more.

Can you tell us a little bit about AIPM and in particular the service you provide your members?

The Australian Institute of Project Management (AIPM) is Australia’s leading membership association for project professionals, with over 8,600 members. We engage, educate, and advocate for the project profession in Australia, and drive thought leadership and performance in the project arena by bringing people and ideas together for project and organisation success.

The body of knowledge used in your members portal is Praxis Framework. Why did you decide to use this Framework?

AIPM chose to base their body of knowledge on the Praxis Framework due to its integrated nature and alignment with other frameworks. We have found the Praxis Framework to be an excellent and efficient best practice model, reducing training costs and decreasing the time needed to maintain a project delivery infrastructure. We also liked the accessibility of the framework, both in terms of that it is entirely online and therefore constantly updated as changes occur, with no IP restrictions, and it is available in seven languages.

How is the Praxis Framework used in AIPM’s portal?

We currently house the Praxis Framework on our website and community forum, AIPM Community. Members can download templates for free, read the glossary, and access the framework when logged into their accounts. The tools and templates are great assets for our members, and it is a popular page on our website.

AIPM have also endorsed the Praxis Framework Bridging Course. What does this endorsement signify?

AIPM course endorsement demonstrates that the Praxis Framework has passed a rigorous review by our auditors, who hold competency-based training and industry experience in project management. It also shows a commitment to professional development and elevation of industry practices. Being a short course, the successful audit of the framework demonstrates alignment to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide) or equivalent to an alternative methodology.
