What is CHAMPS2?

CHAMPS2 is a vision led, benefits driven business change method which is broad in scope and encompasses the whole business change journey. It helps you define your organization's strategic needs, and then provides a tailored route to ensure that the desired outcomes are achieved.

What are the benefits of CHAMPS2?

Who should take the CHAMPS2 qualifications?

The foundation qualification aims to give practicing organizational change team members and leaders a clear overview and understanding of the key phases of the CHAMPS2 method and how they could be applied in their organization.
The practitioner qualification aims to give members of business change teams practical skills and techniques to apply the CHAMPS2 method in a range of circumstances. The qualification achieves this be developing knowledge and understanding in the principles and practices required to lead within transformation programmes.

How can I train for the CHAMPS2 examinations?

Training for CHAMPS2 is available from the network of Accredited Training Organizations (ATOs) who are assessed and certified by APMG-International. The full list of CHAMPS2 ATOs can be HERE.

Do I have to receive training to sit the exams?

No, however this is recommended. In addition to receiving accredited training, individuals also have the option of self-study to prepare for the examinations. APMG-International administers public exam sessions around the world to accommodate those who self-study.

How do I sit the exams?

The vast majority of Managing Benefits accredited training organizations include the examinations as part of the associated training course. Alternatively, and for individuals that have self-studied, APM Group administers public exam sessions around the world. Sessions are run at certain APMG-International offices. There are four dedicated centers in the UK for public examinations, and in the United States we utilize the public library network to facilitate sessions.

How much does it cost to sit the CHAMPS2 examinations?

If you are sitting the examinations through an accredited training organization, the costs of the exams are generally included in the course fee. APMG-International use a global pricing structure, so for those sitting exams at a public exam center, the cost is dependent on where the exams are being sat. Are there any pre-requisites for the CHAMPS2 examinations?

No, however candidates are expected to be familiar with the CHAMPS2 manual.
To be eligible to take the CHAMPS2 practitioner exam, candidates must have passed the foundation exam.

Which languages are CHAMPS2 examinations available in?

CHAMPS2 exams are currently available in English only. Translations will be considered based on demand.

How long will it take to learn the CHAMPS2 material?

For individuals self-studying it is almost impossible to say. As all candidates have different experience and amount of time available for study, it varies from person to person. We suggest you buy the manual and have a look through for yourself before deciding how long you need to spend learning.

For those studying with an accredited training organization, foundation courses are generally delivered over 2 days, while combined foundation and practitioner courses are generally delivered over 5 days. It is well worth investigating with individual providers, as many will offer tailored and blended learning solutions.

When can I expect the results of my CHAMPS2 Examinations?

CHAMPS2 foundation examinations can be marked on location after the exam, but this is down to the discretion of the invigilator at the time. Practitioner answer sheets are marked at APMG-International offices and results released soon after.

Your result will be sent to your ATO approximately 7-10 days after your exam date. Your ATO should notify you of your results so please contact them for further details.

If you did not take your exam through an ATO, your results will be sent directly to you via the relevant APMG-International office approximately 7-10 days after the date of your exam.

When will I receive my certificate?

Candidates will automatically be sent an electronic certificate within two business days of their exam results being released. If you have not received your certificate within this timeframe please contact our Customer Interaction Team - servicedesk@apmg-international.com.

Electronic certificates are environmentally friendly, but can be printed if required. It is also very easy to share them with employers and other third parties. APMG will send you a link to your registered email address. This link will take you to your Candidate Portal where you will find your electronic certificate(s). You can always access all your electronic certificates using the APMG candidate portal.

Sometimes, if you have taken your examination(s) via a Training Organisation, certificates will be issued based on the preferences that the Training Organisation selected when booking the exam. The Training Organisation can select either an electronic certificate or both paper and electronic certificates are provided to the candidate. The Training Organisation can also choose if certificates are sent to the candidates directly or via the Training Organisation. If you have been awarded an electronic certificate but also require a hard copy certificate, you can always order a hard copy certificate for GBP 12.00. This is also the case if you re-order your hard copy certificate.

What are the pass marks for the CHAMPS2 examinations?

Pass marks for the CHAMPS2 examinations are as follows:
Foundation: You will need to score 32/50 to pass the foundation exam.
Practitioner: You will need to score 32/63 to pass the practitioner exam.

What pass mark is required to be eligible to become a CHAMPS2 trainer?

To be eligible to apply to become a CHAMPS2 trainer, individuals must achieve a score of 66% (42/63) in the practitioner exam.
To find out if you scored enough to be eligible as a trainer, please email servicedesk@apmg-international.com noting your interest. A representative of the Service Desk will be able to advise.

How do I become a CHAMPS2 approved trainer?

All CHAMPS2 trainers must be "sponsored" by a CHAMPS2 accredited training organization (ATO). Details of all CHAMPS2 ATOs can be found HERE .

A trainer application must be submitted by the sponsoring ATO to their relevant APMG-International office.

How does my organization become a CHAMPS2 Accredited Training Organization (ATO)?

An organization wishing to become a CHAMPS2 ATO must first submit an application form to either the APMG-International service desk or a regional APMG-International office. The organization will then be subject to APMG-International's ATO assessment process.

How does my organization become an Accredited Consulting Organization (ACO)?

An organization wishing to become an ACO must first submit an application form to either the APMG-International Service Desk or the relevant APMG-International office. The organization will then be subject to APMG-International's ACO assessment process.

How long are the CHAMPS2 certifications valid for?

There is currently not a time limit on the certifications, but a re-registration exam may be introduced following future updates.

Candidates who have passed the CHAMPS2 Practitioner examination can put “CHAMPS2 Practitioner” on their business cards.
