Perfecting projects and programmes.

Fully optimise all aspects of project, programme and portfolio delivery with the free, community driven Praxis Framework.

By covering the full breadth of guidance needed for effective project and programme management within a single framework – Knowledge, Method, Competency and Capability - Praxis is the most efficient means of delivering projects and programmes.

Enabling success:

  • Completely comprehensive – encompassing knowledge, method, competency and capability.
  • Maximum efficiency – negating the need to cross reference or translate between guides by using a common taxonomy and terminology across all areas.
  • The only best practice guide that supports all elements of the UK Government’s Project Delivery Standard.
  • Community driven – Praxis practitioners are encouraged to actively share insights and suggest improvements to any page of the framework, which will be considered for inclusion.
  • Easily tailorable to any project context.
  • Continual development – the entire framework is available for free online, empowering you to undertake professional development wherever and whenever needed.

The Praxis Framework Certifications

The Praxis Framework Certifications confirm you understand and can apply the framework to projects and programmes – ensuring they achieve optimal results.

You would need to take at least three separate project and programme management certifications to reach the breadth of guidance provided by Praxis.

The contents of these certifications often overlap - forcing you to study duplicated themes and terminologies, risk management for example is covered by many certifications.

Being completely comprehensive, Praxis removes repetition by covering all of the key areas – combining the value of three introductory certifications into a single one.

Illustrating the quality of the Praxis Framework certifications, the Praxis Framework Bridging Course has been endorsed by the Australia's leading project management association (AIPM) and it is an APM Recognised Assessment for the Chartered Project Professional (ChPP) standard.

Certify your ability to:

  • Deliver projects and programmes successfully utilising a comprehensive framework.
  • Perform as a highly responsive project or programme manager – able to implement the framework at any stage of delivery.
  • Understand project and programme functions plus the processes and documentation used to manage lifecycle phases.
  • Develop and maintain an effective project or programme delivery infrastructure in a decreased timescale.
  • Apply and tailor Praxis to your organisation by inserting your own process model, templates and content into the framework.
  • Understand the similarities and differences between Praxis and other prominent guides such as: PRINCE2, MSP and the APM Body of Knowledge.

TESTIMONIALS

Praxis Framework Foundation was my first international certification and, honestly, having APMG as the examination institute clearly improved my experience. When I checked online about APMG I just found positive reviews, which helped me to build more confidence to continue. APMG is serious business, I was delighted to see how serious the proctored examination was taken. Everyone would benefit from APMG exams.

What is the Praxis Framework?

Praxis is an openly available Project, Programme and Portfolio Management Framework, available at www.praxisframework.org.

How can I study for the Praxis Framework examinations?

You can attend a training course with one of APMG's Accredited Training Organizations (ATOs). ATOs can be found by clicking 'Find a training provider' and choosing your desired Praxis Framework certification level.

APMG would recommend studying with an Accredited Training Organization (ATO).

If you prefer to self-study - you can support your studies by:

Do I have to receive training to sit the exam?

Training is recommended but you can self-study by:

You can then book a self-study exam at a date that suits you.

How do I sit an exam?

Accredited Training Organizations (ATOs) usually include the examinations as part of their training course – please check with your ATO before booking.

For those who self-study - exams can be taken online from your home or workplace. Book a self-study exam here.

What are the main publications for the Praxis Framework and where do I purchase them?

The entire Praxis Framework is available for free online at www.praxisframework.org. If preferred, it is also available in print form from APMG Store.

What languages is the Praxis Framework exam available in?

The Praxis Framework Foundation & Practitioner exams are available in English, Chinese and Bahasa (Indonesian).
The Foundation exam only is also available in Dutch and Polish.

Candidates sitting a Praxis Framework exam in a second language are allowed extra time to complete the exam - i.e. Foundation exam candidates receive an additional 15 minutes, while Practitioner exam candidates receive an additional 40 minutes to complete the exam.

Please contact either your training provider or the APMG Customer team (+44 1494 452 450) to discuss your additional time requirements.

Are there any pre-requisites for the Praxis Framework examinations?

There is no pre-requisite for the foundation exam. You must achieve a 50% pass mark at foundation level before you can complete the practitioner level.

The Bridging Course is aimed at people who hold the following certifications - but require additional knowledge:

  • a Foundation, Practitioner or Professional certification in PRINCE2,
  • a Foundation, Practitioner or Advanced Practitioner in MSP, PRINCE2 Agile or the APM PFQ or PMQ (or IPMA Level D or equivalent)
  • PM4SD™
  • PMP®
  • PgMP®.

The Praxis Bridging Course is designed to fill the gap(s) in candidates understanding, which will vary depending on their certification, and explain the key differences and similarities, where they exist, between Praxis and these project and programme guides.

When can I expect the results of my Praxis Framework examinations?

Foundation exams can be marked on location post exam and a provisional result given, but this is down to the discretion of the training provider. Practitioner and Bridging Course exams are marked at APMG International offices.

Formal confirmation of your exam result will be issued within 5 days of APMG receiving your exam paper for marking. Results may be sent to your training provider first, and they will be responsible for issuing the formal confirmation of your results. If you self-study, you will receive the results directly from APMG approximately 5 days after sitting your exam.

Why aren’t portfolios covered in the Praxis Framework certifications and exams?

The framework includes all aspects of project, programme, and portfolio delivery. However due to the lengthy timeframe that would be required to cover project, programme and portfolio management in training, the certification syllabus only covers projects and programmes.

How does my organization become a Praxis Framework Accredited Training Organization (ATO)?

To become accredited please click the 'Deliver training' button on the Praxis Framework product page - or contact your local APMG office. If you have existing APMG accreditation, you can apply to extend scope and will have a short assessment process to add Praxis to your portfolio.

How do I become a Praxis Framework approved trainer?

To become an accredited Praxis Framework trainer, you will need to be ‘sponsored’ by a Praxis Framework Accredited Training Organisation (ATO). Your trainer application will then be submitted to APMG by your sponsoring ATO.

What are the main differences between the Praxis Framework and other Project, Programme or Portfolio Management best practice guides?

There are numerous best practice guides available, but none that look at all the areas needed to effectively deliver a project or programme - Knowledge, Method, Competency and Capability. Praxis encompasses all the elements needed to deliver a successful project or programme, all in one framework. It is also the first framework to integrate projects, programmes and portfolios.

What is the format of the Praxis exams?

Foundation exam:
•    75 simple multiple-choice questions
•    60 minutes duration
•    Closed book
•    50% pass mark (38 marks out of 75)

Practitioner and Bridging Course exam:
•    Complex multiple-choice questions

•    50% pass mark (40 marks out of 80)

How long are the Praxis certifications valid for?

The Praxis certifications do not expire.

When will I receive my certificate?

Candidates will be able to claim their digital badge and electronic certificate from their APMG Candidate Portal within two business days of their exam result being issued.

How do I access my digital badge and/or certificate?

You can always access all your electronic certificates and badges via the APMG Candidate Portal.
