The ICSF entry level exam is the official starting point for those wishing to enter the cyber security profession. The Information and Cyber Security Foundation certification (ICSF) opens the doors for anyone to enter the rapidly growing Cyber Security workforce.
Who is this certification aimed at?
- Individuals wishing to enter the Cyber Security profession
- People who require the minimum amount of knowledge in the 45 cyber skill areas of the CIISec Knowledge Framework. For example;
- Organisational teams,
- Apprentices,
- Graduates,
- Underwriters,
- Technical Staff
Successful candidates of the Information and Cyber Security Foundation (ICSF) certification will;
- Be assigned the title of Accredited Affiliate of CIISec. This is the first step on the ladder to become a full member.
- Benefit from a dynamic digital badge which can be shared on social media, proving their knowledge of levels 1&2 of the Knowledge Framework
- Be awarded with the appropriate post nominal (AfCIIS) which will display their knowledge of the sector.
- Receive CIISec membership for one year where they can become part of the Chartered Institute of Information Security community, gaining access to resources and networking events alongside established information security professionals.

About the exam
ICSF will be a self-study, proctored examination. It comprises of 100 multiple-choice questions in a two-hour exam, with a pass mark of 65% and distinction of 80%. The exam will be taken online and remotely proctored through the APMG portal. A copy of the CIISec Knowledge Framework will be provided to each examinee for self-study purposes.
