What is Cloud Computing?

Cloud Computing is the practice of using a network of remote servers hosted on the internet to store, manage, and process data, instead of using a local server or a personal computer.

Cloud Computing enables organisations to increase capacity and/or capability without the need to invest in new infrastructure, training staff and licensing new software.  Cloud Computing can also help to bring products/services to market more quickly and enables innovation by reducing time and/or cost to failure.

The APMG Cloud Computing qualification has drawn together the best sources of material to explain how to understand the possibilities and challenges of moving to the cloud.

How can I train for the Cloud Computing Foundation examination?

Training for Cloud Computing is available from the network of Accredited Training Organizations (ATOs) who are assessed and certified by APMG-International. The full list of Cloud Computing ATOs can be found at HERE . Only these organizations and registered partners/affiliates are authorized to deliver Cloud Computing training.

Do I have to receive training to sit the exam?

No, however this is recommended. In addition to receiving accredited training, individuals also have the option of self-study to prepare for the examinations. APMG-International administer public exam sessions around the world to accommodate those who self study.

How do I sit the exams?

Most, if not all Cloud Computing accredited training organizations (ATOs) include the examination as part of the associated training course.

How much does it cost to sit the Cloud Computing Foundation exam?

If you are sitting the examination through an accredited training organization (ATO), the cost of the exam is generally included in the course fee. APMG-International use a global pricing structure, so for those sitting exams at a public exam centre, the cost is dependent on where the exams are being sat. To find out the cost in your region,

No, there are no pre-requisites.

What are the main publications for Cloud Computing and where can I purchase them?

The Cloud Computing Foundation qualification is based on the following 3 reference materials:-

 

  • Cloud Computing: Foundation White Paper
  • (authored specifically for this scheme, it covers the gaps missing from ‘The Cloud at Your Service and the NIST Definition of Cloud Computing)

Which languages are the Cloud Computing examinations available in?

The Cloud Computing exam is currently only available in English.

How long will it take to learn the Cloud Computing material?

For individuals self-studying it is almost impossible to say. As all candidates have different experience and amount of time available for study, it varies from person to person. We suggest you buy the manual and have a look through for yourself before deciding how long you need to spend learning.

For those studying with an accredited training organization, foundation courses are generally delivered over 2 days. It is well worth investigating with individual providers, as many will offer tailored and blended learning solutions. 

What is the structure of the Cloud Computing exam?

Summaries of the structure of the Cloud Computing foundation examination is below:

    Number of Questions: 50
    Marks per Question: 1 (50 marks overall)
    Exam Timing: 40 mins
    Closed book
    Pass Mark: 50% (25 marks or more)
 

How long is the Cloud Computing certification valid for?

There is no expiry date for the Cloud Computing Foundation certificate. 

When can I expect the results of my exam?

Cloud Computing Foundation examinations can be marked on location with provisional results provided immediately after marking.

If you have taken your exam via an accredited training organisation (ATO), formal confirmation of results are sent by the relevant APMG-International office directly to ATOs within 48 hours. Your ATO should notify you of your result so please contact them for further details regarding this.

If you did not take your exam through an ATO, your results will be sent directly to you via the relevant APMG-International office approximately 7-10 days after the date of your exam.

When will I receive my certificate?

A foundation certificate will be dispatched to you approximately 2 weeks after we have received your exam paper back into our offices.

Please note that if you have taken your examinations via an ATO, certificates may be dispatched to ATOs who will then forward the certificate on to you. Therefore if you have not received your certificate shortly after the above timeframes please contact your ATO directly. 

What is the pass marks for the Cloud Computing exam?

The pass mark for the Cloud Computing Foundation examinations is 25 marks out of 50 (50%).

What pass mark is required to be eligible to become a Cloud Computing trainer?

To be eligible to apply to become a Cloud Computing trainer, individuals must achieve a score of 66% (33/50) in the Foundation exam.

How do I find out if I scored enough to be eligible to become a trainer?

To find out if you scored enough to be eligible as a trainer, please email servicedesk@apmg-international.com noting your interest. A representative of the Service Desk will be able to advise.

Can I use the Cloud Computing logo?

Only organizations licensed to do so are allowed to use the Cloud Computing logo. Such organizations include Cloud Computing ATOs (Accredited Training Organizations) accredited by APMG International.
