Building capability to harness the true value of data
In Taiwan, a program at the Ministry of Labor was established to help students understand future industries and jobs. The program is run by the Department of Accounting and Informatics at Asia University.
Four outstanding students in this program voluntarily participated in a lecture on big data and achieved the APMG Enterprise Big Data certification. Training and certification is based on best practice developed by the Enterprise Big Data Framework Alliance.
In Taiwan the certification program is implemented by SongHao Assets Management. The program invited the ambassador of the Alliance, alongside a lecturer of SongHao, to deliver a lecture to students. Under the lecturer’s guidance and with the support of teachers in the department, the students all passed the certification examination with high scores. The achievement is a demonstration that data literacy of Taiwanese students is in line with international standards.
The Enterprise Big Data Framework is the world's first and only framework that addresses how enterprises can realize and benefit from the value of data. It’s increasingly acknowledged that enterprises will need to master data in order to stay relevant, identify and satisfy customer needs, and maintain or enhance competitiveness. It won’t be enough to rely solely on information technology.
Data literacy embodies a variety of capabilities. Only by utilizing an effective framework can these capabilities release the value of data in the organization through the operations of teams and individuals. Accordingly, under the guidance of an enterprise's overall data-driven strategy, data talents with professional domain knowledge are highly sort after by enterprises.
Teachers of the Accounting and Information Department of Asia University have seen the above-mentioned trends and provided students with a complete study plan and resources, a significant contributing factor to our four students’ success in the exam.
The Enterprise Big Data Framework Alliance and framework were introduced in 2018. Since then, the framework has established solid foundations in Taiwan. Currently, industries such as telecommunications, finance, manufacturing and information services in Taiwan are beginning to pay serious attention to the framework and supporting certification program.
Most (if not all) enterprises now recognize the value that data can offer, but the key is how to realize the value. For many it’s now a business-critical topic. Increasing numbers of enterprises are designating Enterprise Big Data training and certification as necessary professional development for employees involved in data-driven strategies.
For our four recent graduates, their certification demonstrates an understanding and capability that meets the requirements of their employer, and a proficiency beyond peers at similar stages of their careers, and even their predecessors in the industry. They are now equipped with the core knowledge and expertise to support their organizations in harnessing the true value of data.
Congratulations to all and we wish them great success on the data journeys!
