We recognise the achievements of professionals from over 150 countries

As we pass the 100,000 Digital Badges milestone, we reflect on our vision and journey

As the vibrant APMG learning community celebrates the milestone of 100,000 APMG digital badges, we can reflect on the journey so far, and the challenges overcome.

Back in 2017 as a truly global, UKAS accredited awarding body, we recognised how important digital credentials would become to individuals, teams and organisations around the world. We could see how e-recruitment and digital transformation were shaping the way working people would find and secure new employment opportunities.

Our vision of delivering instantly recognisable, secure, and easily-accessible credentials, began to take shape.

In 2018, APMG led the way by launching the celebrated, round APMG icon – which became sought-after as a secure, dynamic representation of a candidate's achievement, linking directly to their credential. The badges can be shared online (on digital CV's, social media platforms and emails), displaying a qualified status.

From paper to digital

Initially, we witnessed some scepticism to adopt this new approach with some candidates preferring to stick with paper certificates, traditionally issued as proof of qualification.

Growing in popularity, digital badges have now been embraced by a huge percentage of candidates, who make them their first choice as a portable, accessible and secure way to share their professional qualifications. Sadly in parallel, it has become easier for unscrupulous individuals to fake physical certificates. In response to this, APMG now offers more secure, digital certificates linked directly to an authentication database. These can still be printed and shared, but deliver a whole new level of proof of the authenticity of a person's credentials.

Hundreds of thousands of engagements on social media

As thousands of successful candidates have embraced the digital offerings, the percentage of those sharing on social media has risen dramatically.

Nevertheless, we appreciate not everyone wants to share their achievement online, and continue to offer options to download and print certificates.

For those who have updated their online cv and shared their badge, hundreds of thousands of likes and engagements have taken place across social media including What’s App, Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.

Looking just at LinkedIn, contacts love to celebrate with accredited trainers, training-providers, peers, connections (and connections of connections) joining in to celebrate their good news. Some shared badges have resulted in more than 200 responses celebrating a person's newfound achievement.
