‘Tis better to give than receive’

12 Days of Giving

‘Tis better to give than receive’ as the old saying goes. Which is why here at APMG, we decided to give to 12 charities local to our offices around the world this December.

The #12DaysofGiving was created to share and promote small local charities around the world from 02/12 to 17/12. Each day, a charity was highlighted and donated to. The goal is not only to show support for these causes, but also to show the power of social media for social good and the massive impact thousands of small, meaningful actions can have when used collectively.

Charitable contributions have numerous benefits, but the most important one is obvious: you should give back to your community. Over the 12 days we donated to:

  1. Wycombe Homeless Connection - In the past year they have helped over 500 individuals, they believe that every homeless individual in High Wycombe should have the chance to a fresh start
  2. Lifeline - Lifeline is a national charity providing all Australians experiencing a personal crisis with access to 24-hour crisis support and suicide prevention services.
  3. Congo Children Trust - Kimbilio provides street children with access to food and shelter, education and training.
  4. One Can Trust - they operate a foodbank based in High Wycombe, serving the town and South Buckinghamshire.
  5. Alexander Devine Children's Hospice Service - Their vision is to provide a children’s hospice service within Berkshire and surrounding counties
  6. Covenant House - They are the largest agency in Canada serving youth who are homeless, trafficked or at risk.
  7. Centrum Praw Kobiet - They dedicate their work to gender equality and empowering women.
  8. Sri Rakum - is a school for the Blind is a Free Residential School for the Visually Impaired and for the Sighted-under privileged.
  9. Camp Ooch - they help kids affected by childhood cancer explore enriching, and fun experiences with kids and Volunteers who understand.
  10. Germany and France: Donations for rebuilding Notre Dame via UNESCO - UNESCO is cooperating with the French leaders in analyzing the damage and the reconstruction of the cathedral.
  11. Vluchtelingenwerk - The Dutch Council for Refugees promotes the interests of refugees and asylum seekers in the Netherlands.
  12. Wycombe Mind - Their aim is to raise awareness of mental health and support people affected by mental health in the Wycombe area.

By supporting charities, you are actively helping people, organizations and communities by donating money, time or resource. It’s easy to get caught up in the day-today business of an organisation but taking time to give something back to a charity can give you a new perspective on work and life.

We hope that by giving to charities we will encourage others to do the same around the festive season.
