Taking a public exam

Candidates who do not wish to take an accredited course have the opportunity to self-study and prepare for the exam with the official manual and take a public exam directly for most certifications.

In Germany, APMG is partnering with the IT Service Management Forum Deutschland e.V. (itSMF) for proctoring public exams based on self study.  Alternatively, participants can take a public exam as an online exam via ProctorU or visit our exam centre in the Netherlands on site. Details for these 3 options to take a public exam based on self study:

1.  Contact itSMF directly 
The itSMF proctoring service can be delivered by having a proctor showing up onsite or invigilating your exam remotely using Zoom or MS Teams.

2. Book a public exam with APMG directly 
The ProctorU service is available around the clock and thus offers participants the greatest possible flexibility when choosing a suitable examination date. In this form of online exam, an examiner will remotely access the student's PC to monitor the exam in real time via webcam and microphone. To schedule an exam with ProctorU, you must first book and pay for an exam with APMG. Please note that we cannot issue invoices. Payment must be made directly at the time of booking. Once payment has been made, it can take up to 24 hours to arrange an exam appointment with ProctorU.

General Terms and Conditions for Public Examinations

After APMG has confirmed your booking, the following general terms and conditions apply:

  • After payment of the exam fee your exam will be confirmed.
  • Should you arrive late for your examination date, you will be excluded from the examination. In this case, you must book and pay for a new exam.
  • You can postpone the examination date once free of charge, provided that the rebooking takes place at least 10 working days (Monday - Friday including public holidays) before the booked examination date.
  • From the second postponement a processing fee of €82 (including VAT) will be charged.
  • If you cancel your exam later than 10 working days (Mon - Fri including public holidays), a processing fee of €82 (including VAT) will also be charged. Cancellations must be sent in writing or by e-mail to APMG-Benelux.
  • If you cancel your examination within 10 working days (Monday - Friday including public holidays) before the booked examination date, the examination fee will not be refunded.
  • If you rebook your exam within 10 working days (Mon. - Fri. including public holidays) before the booked exam date, the exam fee will not be refunded. A new examination fee will be charged for each new booking.
  • You must bring a photo ID (identity card, passport or driving licence) with you to the exam. If you cannot prove your identity with such a document on the exam day, you will be excluded from the exam.
  • Your exam booking cannot be transferred or resold to any other person.
