Official APMG certification now available to participants of the popular LinkedIn Learning course.

Some models do a wonderful job at simplifying business concepts. For example, Michael Porter’s five-forces model and value-chain analysis help organization’s model potential strategies.

In a world where more and more value is being driven by change and projects, keeping project management siloed and out of view of the rest of the organization is potentially disastrous. Many organisations are seeking approaches that can be understood by the whole organisation.

That is why the Project Canvas was created.

Project Canvas: A simple framework to learn how to apply project management fundamentals to increase stakeholder engagement and project success

The framework is based on the premise that every project – regardless of industry, organization, sector – is composed of common elements that determine the project’s success. If individuals, leaders and organizations focus on these elements and apply the recommended techniques, more projects will be successful. By using a common language for the key elements, the Project Canvas helps project managers, project sponsors, and everyone else working on a project to easily relate to these elements, understand them and apply the recommended techniques.

The Project Canvas is not intended to replace the established methods of project management. On the contrary, the canvas should make them more universally applicable. It works with traditional, hybrid, and agile project management methodologies.

The Project Canvas has four domains (Why, Who, What/How/When, Where) and fourteen building blocks. It provides a unique opportunity for senior executives, project professionals and all team members to apply a method that is simple, universal and has been proven to lead to better outcomes in their organization.

Developed by Antonio Nieto-Rodriguez, a Harvard Business Review author, thought-leader, practitioner, and Professor in project management. Antonio is the creator of concepts such as the Project Economy and the Project Manifesto. His research and global impact in modern management has been recognized by Thinkers50. Former Chairman and Fellow of the Project Management Institute, he is the founder of Projects & Co and co-founder of the Strategy Implementation Institute.

“I am pleased to partner again with APMG International - the world’s leading organization in professional accreditations - in providing a new certification that embraces the new concepts of modern project management. This credential will help everyone that wants to succeed in the Project Economy.”

"When the Business Model Canvas was first published in 2008 it complemented existing techniques and helped organisations summarise their business model on a page. The Project canvas delivers the same benefits and visibility for projects. It should help improve understanding for decision makers which will lead to better project outcomes. We are delighted to help bring this concept to a global audience”

Richard Pharro, CEO, APMG International
