The evolution of the Business Relationship Management role at CN

This presentation by Elisa Plevano, Business Engagement Director for Information and Technology (I&T), will describe the evolution of the Business Relationship Management (BRM) role at CN from its earliest beginnings in 2002 to its current position as one of the key pillars within I&T as Business Engagement. It will explore the challenges of evolving the role, including the development of key competencies of the BRM, the interrelationship with other leadership roles within I&T, as well as the process and structure to support the evolution. It will conclude with the future outlook and challenges to continuing the development of the BRM practice.

In her role as the Business Engagement Director for Information and Technology (I&T), Elisa Plevano is responsible for managing the strategic alignment between I&T and other CN business units. Elisa and her team are accountable for all aspects of I&T’s business-facing activities (demand and portfolio management), providing business analyst expertise, process optimization services, organizational change management and communications.

Since joining CN in 2000, Elisa has worked in Operations, Corporate Strategy, HR and Marketing. Since joining I&T, she has gained increasing levels of responsibility and has been mainly focused on BRM.

She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing and Finance (HEC Montréal), in addition to having completed MSc courses in Marketing (HEC Montréal).
