FAQs

Do I have to receive training to take the exam?

No, however this is recommended. In addition to receiving accredited training, individuals also have the option of self-study to prepare for the examination.

You can self-study for the exam by downloading the Guides from the DASCIN website.

APMG-International administer online exam sessions, allowing those who self study the opportunity to sit an online exam from the comfort of their own home or office. Our online proctoring system allows you to take your exam anytime as sessions are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. For more information, please click here.

How do I take the exam?

Accredited Training Organizations (ATOs) usually include the examination as part of their training course – please check with your ATO before booking.

For those who self-study, the exams can be taken anywhere in the world, from the comfort of your home or workplace, with online proctoring.  A proctor will access your exam as you take it to monitor the exam environment through your computer's desktop, webcam and microphone.

Once you have booked an exam, you will be given a registration email to schedule an appointment with your live proctor via our Candidate Portal. Our online proctoring system allows you to take your exam anytime as sessions are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. For more information, please click here.

How much does it cost to take the Green IT Awareness examination?

If you are taking the examination through an Accredited Training Organization, the costs of the exam is generally included in the course fee.

APMG International uses a global pricing structure, so for those sitting exams at a public exam centre, the cost is dependent on where the exams are being sat. What are the main publications to support the Green IT Awareness and where can I purchase them?

The publications are available as a free download from the DASCIN website. 

When can I expect the results of my Green IT Awareness examination?

The GITA examination can be marked on location after the exam, but this is down to the discretion of the invigilator at the time. Please note this will only be a provisional result.

Your formal result will be sent to your Accredited Training Organization (ATO) approximately 7-10 days after your exam date. Your ATO should notify you of your results so please contact them for further details.

If you did not take your exam through an ATO, your result will be sent directly to you via the relevant APMG International office approximately 7-10 days after the date of your exam.

When will I receive my certificate?

Candidates will be able to claim their digital badge and electronic certificate from their APMG Candidate Portal within two business days of their exam result being issued.

How long is the GITA certification valid for?

The GITA certification does not expire. 

What pass mark is required to be eligible to become a Green IT Awareness trainer?

To be eligible to apply to become a Green IT Awareness trainer:

Individuals must achieve a score of 75% (23/30) in the exam. 

 

Can I use the Green IT Framework logo?

Only organizations licensed to do so are allowed to use the GITA logo. Such organizations include GITA  Accredited Training Organizations (ATOs) and registered partners accredited by APMG International.

All individuals who pass the exam are awarded with a digital badge which can be shared on social media and embedded into your CV/resume. Please log into your Candidate Portal to claim your digital badge.

How does my organisation become an GITA Accredited Training Organisation (ATO)?

Please register your interest in becoming an ATO by using the Contact Us form on the Green IT Awareness web page.

How do I access my digital badge and/or certificate?

You can always access all your electronic certificates and badges via the APMG Candidate Portal. Once you have logged on to the Candidate Portal, click on the ‘Badges and Certificates’ option from the menu bar at the top of screen. From here you should click on the ‘Create Badge/Certificate’ button. This will take you to the Credly platform to create and account and download your badge and certificate.

Step-by-step guidance is available to download from the ‘Badges and Certificates’ area in your Candidate Portal.

Electronic certificates are environmentally friendly, but you can print the certificate yourself at home or work, if required.
