Following a competition between the 3 Certification Bodies providing CCP - NCSC has selected APMG to help pilot CCP Specialisms in Risk Management and Security Architecture.

NCSC Certified Cyber Professional (CCP)

CCP is a certification awarded to those with proven ability to apply their cyber security skills, knowledge and expertise in real-life situations.

Developed by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) CCP was launched in 2011/12 and APMG has been a long-running Certification Body for the scheme, conducting the assessments necessary to confirm candidates’ expertise and awarding them their certificates.

Recently the NCSC announced its intention to run a pilot to test a proposed revision of the CCP scheme to move the focus away from Information Assurance (IA) roles to more widely applicable cyber security skill specialisms.

APMG selected by NCSC as CCP Specialism Pilot’s Certification Body

As an evangelist for professional best practice in the cyber security field - APMG was thrilled to receive word that it had been awarded the contract and would continue to work closely with NCSC on the proposed CCP Specialisms through this pilot.

APMG’s CEO, Richard Pharro said, “This is excellent news and we look forward to applying the exemplary approach that the NCSC has come to expect whilst working with us. NCSC has appointed APMG to work closely with them to run the CCP pilot and we are delighted that we have been recognised as a dependable and committed player in strengthening the UK’s national cyber security.

We believe that CCP is instrumental in plugging the UK’s cyber skills gap. The revision to focus on skill specialisms will open more opportunities for cyber professionals to have their expertise verified and greater flexibility to decide their career paths.”

Why CCP is being revised?

NCSC’s vision is to move the CCP scheme away from IA roles and focus on skills, initially by piloting risk management and security architecture specialisms.

Intended to run for some months, the pilot will be used to gather feedback on the most effective processes to assess applicants and to appoint assessors.

What happens to CCP whilst the pilot is running?

The existing CCP format will not be affected while the pilot is running. The NCSC remains committed to supporting CCP in its current form. If you have a current role-based certification or are applying or reapplying through the scheme – NCSC will continue to recognise your achievement as a mark of excellence in the Cyber Security Professional space.
