Update following International Standards Meeting May 2020
The International committee for ISO/IEC 20000 meets twice per year in May and November.
The recent meeting should have been in London. Due to the pandemic, it was held virtually instead and took some key decisions about ISO/IEC 20000 as listed below.
- Part 5: Implementation guidance for ISO/IEC 20000-1
- Work has started on the update of this for the 2018 edition of 20000-1. Publication is expected in 2021.
- Part 11: Guidance on the relationship between ISO/IEC 20000‑1:2011 and service management frameworks: ITIL
- Work has started on the update of this for the 2018 edition of 20000-1 and ITIL4. Axelos are involved in this update. Publication is expected in 2021.
- Part 12: Guidance on the relationship between ISO/IEC 20000‑1:2011 and service management frameworks: CMMI-SVC
- The revision is planned to take account of the 2018 edition of 20000-1 and the update of CMMI. It is likely to be published in 2022. A white paper is likely to be published in 2020 on this topic.
- Part 13: Guidance on the relationship between ISO/IEC 20000‑1:2011 and service management frameworks: COBIT
- This is a new planned part to provide an explanation of the similarities and differences between ISO/IEC 20000-1:2011 and the COBIT model including a high-level mapping. ISACA who own COBIT will be involved in the publication.
