The Digital Opportunity Traineeship initiative will provide cross-border traineeships for up to 6,000 students.
APMG have joined the Digital Skills and Jobs Coalition to assist in tackling the current skills shortages and address the high levels of youth unemployment in Europe.
The Digital Skills and Jobs Coalition is funded by the European Commission’s Horizon 2020 programme and implemented through Erasmus+, and brings together Member States, companies, social partners, non-profit organisations and education providers, who want to tackle the lack of digital skills in Europe.
The shortage of digital technology experts in Europe affects companies in all sectors and is a missed opportunity to reduce unemployment for young people who do not have the right skills required in the job market. Around 40 % of enterprises, report that they have difficulties recruiting Information and Communication Technology (ICT) specialists. As a result, there are more than 350,000 open vacancies.
The Digital Opportunity Traineeships initiative, will enable up to 6000 university students and recent graduates to gain valuable work experience through traineeships abroad with organisations in 2018-20. Helping to close the gap between the digital skills candidates have and what is required by employers. Students can apply for this initiative through their universities.
