10. Focus on Professional Memberships

Level Up your Career

We are in the driving seat when it comes to our own careers. In this episode we explore how to build a portfolio career from single employers, to working across multiple industries. Careers used to be driven by employers, now working professionals need to own their own career development, seeking out opportunities to grow.

Helping people excel is a big part of the value that professional membership organisations bring. This week our focus topic is all about professional memberships, why join a membership organisation and how do you make the most of the opportunities they provide?

REAL QUESTIONS ANSWERED IN REAL TIME

Join the panel on this show and ask all the questions you have relating to professional careers and get help in figuring out how to make best use of your professional memberships.

Example questions could include:

  • How do I access advice on my own career path?
  • What options are available to me to progress from the role I have today?
  • Are internships a good place to begin?
  • What role do apprenticeships have for the early career professional?
  • Are qualifications always required?
  • How do I get people to see my potential vs what I have always been able to do?

APMG use SLIDO. To submit your questions and take part, follow the link below to our event on slido.com. You will also be able to vote on other questions submitted. The more popular a question is, the more time the panel will discuss it.

Episode 10 - Level Up your Career - Focus on Professional Memberships

Focus On the role of memberships

Our focus topic this week is all about Professional Memberships. Eileen J Roden will share her thoughts on how to find and select a professional membership body, why becoming a member can help you in your career and what kinds of benefits you might expect to receive.

Membership Organisations provide a framework for gathering ideas, sharing information and emerging best practice. Many have developed extensive bodies of knowledge reflecting the collective creativity of members over many years. In addition to regular meetings many deliver a range of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) to help members keep their practice up to date.
