Cybersecurity Internships - The Road to Success

Join us live on Thursday, April 6th at 10am Eastern Time when we talk with Mike Battista President of Solutions3 and two guests who will talk about their internships in Cybersecurity. Faith Kolo and Kristen Nova will share with us how the internship put them on the path to success in this industry, including the benefits and what they learned. 

Solutions³ provided an opportunity for an internship during the summer of 2022. Kristen and Faith were two of four interns participating in this program. We'll be hearing from them and their hiring manager regarding that internship and a little bit of their story.

Michael (Mike) Battistella

Mike Battistella likes to say that he wears a couple of hats.

Mike’s primary role is the President & CTO of Solutions³ LLC, an award-winning IT Service Management & Cybersecurity consulting & training organization. Solutions³ provides full lifecycle IT Management & Cybersecurity solutions in the US federal and commercial markets.

Mike is also one of three Strategic Affiliates for the DVMS Institute having global responsibilities along with a primary focus on U.S. Government Solutions. The DVMS Institute focuses on cybersecurity career development and teaching organizations of any size how to build an Adaptive, Cyber-Resilient Digital Value Management System (DVMS) capable of Creating, Protecting, and Delivering (CPD) digital business value to clients and stakeholders.

Faith Kolo

Cyber Security Consultant

Faith is a Cyber Security Consultant, where she leverages technical expertise and analytical skills to enhance our information security practices and contribute to our success. Faith conducts comprehensive assessments of policies and standards ensuring compliance. Faith has been awarded:

  • Research Project - Risk Management Framework
  • Research Project - Leveraging SNORT, OSSEC, and KIBANA to detect and mitigate DDoS attacks.
  • 2022 Fairleigh Dickinson University Senior Design & Research Expo

Faith's proudest achievement is obtaining a master's in Cybersecurity, securing a Cybersecurity internship at Solutions3 LLC during summer 2022, attaining a NIST Cybersecurity practitioner status, becoming a Cybersecurity consultant prior to her university graduation, and receiving swift recognition within a month for her exceptional work on an RBF project.

Kristen Nova

Cybersecurity Staff Consultant, Solutions3 LLC

I am a recent graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University, where I received my bachelor’s in computer science with a concentration in Cybersecurity. I represented my campus as the only Student Ambassador studying Computer Science (2018-2022) and led as President of the FDU Association for Computing Machinery (2021-2022). These roles allowed me to help build the foundations of those pursuing careers in an ever-evolving field. The chance to use those leadership skills during a Summer Internship with Solutions3 LLC was incredibly appealing and educational. Now, I will be continuing my growth in knowledge and skills with Solutions3 LLC as a Cybersecurity Staff Consultant. I am excitedly looking forward to continuing working with the amazingly skilled team and involvements.

Proudest Achievement:

My proudest achievement was to be the first in my family to graduate from college. Being a daughter of an Immigrant parent has allowed me to recognize perseverance as a necessity to become a successful individual in any capacity. Receiving my degree after enduring the pandemic felt emotionally momentous.
