We are very pleased to announce the refresh of our BiSL® Foundation course, as well as a new Practitioner Level.
With the rapid advancement of IT services, there is an ever-growing need for better use of information technology. The business information service library (BiSL®) framework provides guidance on adopting a professional and systematic approach to the management of business information.
While IT handles the storage, processing, and accessibility of information, effective business information management enables an organization to meet specific business demands and maximize the value of their investments.
Foundation Refresh
On this note, we are very pleased to announce our BiSL training and certification program has undergone a refresh in order to align with the fourth edition of the book: ‘BiSL, Een framework voor Business Information Management 4e editie’ (BiSL® 4th edition – A Framework for business information management.). As of May 15 2024, the BiSL Foundation Level version 4 was launched (in Dutch only). The purpose of the Foundation level is for candidates to prove to current or prospective employers that they have sufficient knowledge and understanding of the BiSL guidance to work in a business information management, for instance in a role as a business information administrator or an information manager.
New Practitioner Level
A new BiSL Practitioner exam will launch in June 2024. The Practitioner exam will be based on a new book – De functioneel beheerder en BISL– and APMG will be offering the Practitioner training and exam (in Dutch only).
The BiSL Practitioner certification builds on the BiSL Foundation level, shifting the focus from theory to the practical implementation of the BiSL framework within organisations, allowing candidates to prove to employers that they can successfully apply their knowledge in the workplace. Learning objectives include applying BiSL theory for organisational improvement of BIM, learning about practical applications, setting up and improving BIM processes using BiSL and preparing for the BiSL Practitioner exam.
Exam Structure
The Practitioner exam will consist of 40 multiple-choice questions with a 60-minute duration. Candidates will need to score 65% (26 out of 40) to pass.
Foundation training is already available from APMG’s network of accredited training organisations. Practitioner training will be available soon from these organisations.
Alternatively, candidates can study using the core textbook and purchase the exam from APMG. Exams can be sat in the comfort of your own home via our remote exam proctoring facility.
A Case Study – Dutch Police use BiSL as driver for innovating business information management
In this case study, an Industrial Experience Report by Frank van Outvorst and Lex Sholten discusses how the Dutch police used the BiSL (Buiness Information Services Library) framework to enhance their business information management. It outlines the successful application of BiSL in restructuring information processes, improving governance, and professionalizing roles within the police organization, ultimately leading to better information management and operational efficiency.
