Evolving culture, building partnerships, driving value and satisfying purpose

Alongside our partners at BRM Institute, we’re delighted to be celebrating a major milestone for the Business Relationship Management Professional (BRMP) training and certification program.

Launched in 2014, BRMP is the go-to certification for business relationship management professionals. Earlier this month, the 10,000th BRMP candidate was certified!

Congratulations to our 10,000th BRMP

Huge congratulations to Oludahunsi Ogidi, Supervisor of Quality Assurance at global energy company NNPC, who is the 10,000th certified BRMP.

To celebrate the milestone and his status as the 10,000th BRMP, Oludahunsi wins a complimentary year-long membership to BRM Institute, a complimentary virtual ticket to the 2023 BRMConnect conference and a copy of BRM Explained, all courtesy of our friends at the Institute.

Here’s what Oludahunsi had to say about the accolade:

"It is an honor to be the winner of this milestone in the BRM community. The Business Relationship Management Professional certification provides the essential skills that anyone can use, in any role that will help them to succeed. I look forward to celebrating this accomplishment with everyone in the community at the BRMConnect Conference in Portland, Oregon!"

What is Business Relationship Management (BRM)?

Business relationship management (BRM) is a philosophy, capability, discipline, and role to evolve culture, build partnerships, drive value, and satisfy purpose.

With effective BRM expertise and policies in place, organizations can achieve:

  • Trusted teams acting beyond departmental borders.
  • Individually empowered employees looking outside their box.
  • Relationship centered in all aspects.
  • Infinite value, as it expands the focus of society from strategic partners, the value in satisfaction of personal purpose and societal impact.

With its focus on improving relationships among business partners and maximizing business value, the principles of business relationship management apply to everyone engaged in business, regardless of whether you are a BRM or a C-level executive.

The BRM Role

The Business Relationship Management Role serves as the strategic interface between a business function and one or more business partners to stimulate, surface, and shape business demand for the function’s business assets and capabilities. The BRM is a connector, orchestrator, and navigator between their function and one or more business units and external customers.

Developing BRM skills and expertise

Launched in 2014, BRMP courses provide a solid, foundation-level knowledge of Business Relationship Management. Participants will be able to demonstrate their understanding of key principles, techniques, tools and processes central to the BRM role and discipline.

Training and certification are underpinned by BRM Institute's Business Relationship Management Interactive Body of Knowledge (BRMBOK), available to Institute members via their website.

BRM Institute is the leading organization dedicated to the BRM discipline. The Institute provides world-class professional membership and development programs to advance the art and discipline of business relationship management worldwide. BRM Institute helps organizations grow their BRM capability to drive business strategy, strengthen cross-functional collaboration, and champion a culture of creativity, innovation, and shared ownership across the enterprise.

Endorsed by learners

As part of our campaign to celebrate this major milestone, we conducted a survey of BRMP training and certification candidates to seek their feedback.

Responses were overwhelmingly positive. For example:

  • 96% of respondents to APMG’s BRMP candidate survey felt the learning/training experience has had a positive impact on their ability to manage business relationships.
  • 96% of respondents to APMG’s BRMP candidate survey felt the learning/training experience has increased their confidence as a relationship management professional.
  • 96% of respondents to APMG’s BRMP candidate survey selected either “Yes” or “Probably” when asked if their BRMP certification status has helped (or will help) to secure a new role or promotion.
  • When asked if individuals involved in business relationship management roles should consider BRMP training and certification to support career progression, 92% of respondents to APMG’s BRMP candidate survey selected “Strongly Agree” or “Agree”.
