Praxis is a free, community driven framework which can help you and your organisation realise the intended benefits of projects, programmes and portfolios. The Praxis Framework™ is a combination of four types of best practice guidance; Knowledge, Method, Competency and Capability and is the first free framework to integrate projects, programmes and portfolios in a single guide. The entire guide is available on the Praxis Framework website for free and subject only to the Creative Commons licence.
However, as a result of the breath of content the Praxis Framework website covers it is an extensive resource, with over 1,700 website pages. This is where Praxis Local comes in.
Launched on 30 April, Praxis Local is a PDF guide which summarises project and programme management functions and processes, with hyperlinks to extra details if needed. Many organisations like a simple overview of their project and programme processes and resources, which acts as a reminder to those involved. These overviews usually provide links to both internal and external resources.
Adrian Dooley, lead author of the Praxis Framework, elaborates,
“At Praxis Framework, we have worked with organisations who want to integrate their internal resources with the extensive guidance provided by the framework - but then present that in a simple way. The result is Praxis Local.” Dooley continued,
“Every organisation will have its own take on this approach, so what we provide is just a starting point. A simple pdf file that summarises the framework and links to the website when greater detail is required. This was created using PowerPoint which means it is easy to tailor and adapt to each organisation's unique requirements. In keeping with our ethos of providing world class resources completely free, you can now download not only the pdf but also the original PowerPoint file.”
Organisations can adapt this PowerPoint file and distribute it around their organisations without any copyright restrictions. The Praxis Framework simply asks that the source is noted and a link to their website is included.
