Change Management

In response to the evolving demands of the business world, APMG has updated our popular Change Management Foundation and Practitioner courses.

Why update our successful courses?

  • The business landscape, within which change occurs, has evolved significantly since we created the previous courses in 2015 and change management is no longer an emerging field. Consequently, different issues have become the focus for change professionals.
  • Organisational change is increasingly being viewed as a continuous process, rather than a linear one, and we wanted our approach to reflect this shift.
  • Our courses were created in conjunction with the Change Management Institute, who have refreshed their Body of Knowledge, which the new courses align with.
  • We wanted to reduce the amount of detail that people were required to memorise in order to pass the exams and become certified, placing a greater emphasis on learning and less on memorising information.
  • Finally, APMG and the Change Management Institute wanted to use up-to-date examples of change management in practice.

What has been updated in the Change Management courses?

Key changes include:

  • The courses now have a more practical focus.
  • The Change Management theories discussed reflect a more continuous, agile approach to change.
  • New topics have been introduced, including developing change through collaborative approaches (co-creation, co-production) and managing psychological safety in change.
  • Material on the neuroscience behind change and positive psychology and resilience has been expanded and updated to reflect the latest research.
  • New examples of Change Management being used in practice have been added.

Maintaining high quality training

The high quality of the training has not changed. Change Management Foundation and Practitioner courses continue to equip individuals with the knowledge and techniques to support individuals and teams through change - improving business outcomes and increasing benefits realisation. The courses help organisations and their people understand and therefore manage the impact of change.

The training remains aligned with the Change Management Institute’s accreditation.

Carol Beaton, Programme Management, Consultant , a recent learner stated:

“The APMG Change Management Practitioner course offers a comprehensive understanding of change management principles, equipping participants with valuable skills to navigate organisational transformations. Its emphasis on practical application ensures that learners can effectively implement change strategies in real-world scenarios. . .By mastering change management, professionals can foster employee engagement, mitigate resistance, and create a positive culture during transitions.”

As a result of these updates, the effectiveness of the APMG Change Management courses, as highlighted in this quotation, remains unwavering.

Please note that Accredited Training Providers may continue to offer the 2015 version of the Change Management Foundation and Change Management Practitioner courses until September 2024. For further clarification, please contact your chosen Training Provider.
