Data is constantly coming into and being generated by your business. It can seem overwhelming. What information does your business really need? How can it capitalize on the data it already has? Ensure the quality of its data? 

At the heart of the Digital Information Design (DID®) guidance is a simple, powerful model that enables businesses to optimize their data usage. DID provides a business information model, that organizations can use to identify and assess what best practices to use.  Providing guidance on how to build these best practices into a roadmap for your business, while retaining focus on the information needs of your business. The DID model will help you to assess the validity of the best practice(s) you use and identify the strengths and weaknesses in your approach. The model is independent of all other frameworks, including BiSL and BiSL Next which DID elaborates on. DID therefore offers impartial information about well-established frameworks, including COBIT®, ITIL® and TOGAF®, and provides advice on how to use their key features when designing business driven IT services. 

While the role of IT is to ensure information is stored and processed safely - effective business information management, which DID facilitates, gives an organization the ability to respond to specific business demands and make data driven decisions quickly. Improving business performance through more effective use of information.

What is Digital Information Design?

Digital Information Design (DID) is a business information model canvas, enabling organisations to identify useful and widely used best practices and put them in a roadmap, whilst retaining focus on the information needs of the business. You can choose and use whatever best practice(s) you wish, as the DID model canvas will help you to assess the validity of your choice(s) and identify strengths and weaknesses in your approach.

How can I take the exam?

Accredited Training Organizations (ATOs) usually include the examination as part of their training course – please check with your ATO before booking.

For those who self-study, the exam can be taken anywhere in the world, from the comfort of your home or workplace, with online proctoring.  A proctor will access your exam as you take it to monitor the exam environment through your computer's desktop, webcam and microphone.

Once you have booked an exam, you will be given a registration email to schedule an appointment with your live proctor via our Candidate Portal. Our online proctoring system allows you to take your exam anytime as sessions are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. How can I receive training for the Digital Information Design examination?

Training for Digital Information Design is available from the network of Accredited Training Organizations (ATOs) who are assessed and certified by APMG-International. The full list of Digital Information Design ATOs can be found at http://www.apmg-international.com. Only these organizations and registered partners/affiliates are authorized to deliver Digital Information Design training.

Do I have to receive training to sit the exam?

No, it is not mandatory to attend a training course; candidates are permitted to self-study for the exam. However, attendance at an accredited training course is recommended. The full list of DID ATOs can be found at http://www.apmg-international.com.

How much does it cost to sit the Digital Information Design examination?

If you are sitting the examination through an accredited training organization, the cost of the exam is generally included in the course fee but please check with your training provider at the time of booking.

How long will it take to learn the Digital Information Design material?

For individuals self-studying it is almost impossible to say. As all candidates have different experience and amount of time available for study, it varies from person to person. We suggest you buy the manual and have a look through for yourself before deciding how long you need to spend learning.

For those studying with an accredited training organization, DID Foundation courses are generally delivered over 3 days. It is well worth investigating with individual providers, as some will offer tailored, online or blended learning solutions.

What is the structure of the Digital Information Design examination?

The structure of the Digital Information Design Foundation examination is below:

  • 40 multiple choice questions
  • 60 minutes duration
  • Pass mark: 26 out of 40 (65%)
  • Closed book (no reference materials permitted)

Can I take any books or supporting materials into the exam?

No, candidates are not permitted to refer to the Digital Information Design Foundation book or any other materials during the exam.

Is there a sample paper that I can practice on?

Yes, all candidates can access a sample exam paper to practice on via the Candidate Portal. Access to the Candidate Portal is given once you have purchased a self-study exam or your ATO has registered your exam date and time with APMG.

How long is the Digital Information Design qualification valid for?

The Digital Information Design Foundation exam does not expire.

When can I expect the results of my Digital Information Design examination?

Digital Information Design Foundation examinations can be marked at the end of your exam with provisional results provided.

APMG will issue formal notification of your exam result via your Candidate Portal within 2 working days of the date of your exam.

When will I receive my certificate?

Candidates will automatically be sent an electronic certificate within two business days of their exam results being released. If you have not received your certificate within this timeframe please contact our Customer Interaction Team - servicedesk@apmg-international.com

Electronic certificates are environmentally friendly, but can be printed if required. It is also very easy to share them with employers and other third parties. APMG will send you a link to your registered email address. This link will take you to your Candidate Portal where you will find your electronic certificate(s). You can always access all your electronic certificates using the APMG Candidate Portal.

What is the pass mark for the Digital Information Design examination?

The pass mark for the Digital Information Design Foundation exam is 26 out of 40 (65%).

How do I become a Digital Information Design trainer?

To be eligible to apply to become a Digital Information Design trainer, individuals must hold the certificate for the course that you wish to teach. All trainers must be ‘sponsored’ by an APMG accredited training organization. Can I use the Digital Information Design logo?

Only organizations licensed to do so are allowed to use the Digital Information Design logo. Such organizations include Digital Information Design ATOs (Accredited Training Organizations) who have been approved by APMG-International.

Individuals are not permitted to use the Digital Information Design logo, however, all individuals who pass the exam are awarded with a digital badge which can be shared on social media and embedded into your CV/resume.

Can I earn PMI® PDUs for attending an accredited training course?

It is possible to earn PMI Education PDUs for attending third-party provider training (training courses not offered by a PMI Authorized Training Partner), as long as the training meets the requirements around the skill areas of the PMI Talent Triangle. Please check the PMI website for further details on how to record your PDUs and what supporting evidence is required.
