Fundamentals level

The Fundamentals of Contract and Commercial Management course is aimed at non-practitioners. It will guide candidates through the contract management lifecycle. This course caters for those who have basic knowledge of contract management - but do not require a certified qualification.

There are no pre-requisites – in order to take the examination you must attend an accredited training course.

At the end of this course candidates will understand:

  • The significance & role of contracts in the world of business
  • How to select from a broad range of knowledge, approaches and tools
  • Key concepts in contracts & associated legal considerations
  • Basic risk assessments techniques
  • The principles & process of contract negotiation
  • Effective contract delivery & operations post-contract signature

  • Multiple Choice
  • 50 questions
  • 35 marks (70%) or more required to pass
  • 40 minutes duration
  • Closed book

Practitioner Level

Formerly known as Associate,the Contract and Commercial Management Practitioner course is aimed a contract managers and commercial managers, as well as legal, compliance business and regional heads.

There are no pre-requisites – in order to take the examination you must attend an accredited training course.

At the end of this course candidates will understand:

  • Effective proposal preparation, requirements gathering, evaluation methodologies and supplier selection
  • Key skills in constructing and managing contracts to meet business needs
  • Legal considerations appropriate to contracting and contracts
  • The full approach to risk: identification, assessment and amelioration techniques
  • Financial management: planning, budgeting and managing within a contract
  • The principles & process of effective contract negotiation. Framing and optimal outcomes
  • Effective contract implementation, delivery and management post-contract signature

Exam Format

  • Multiple Choice
  • 120 questions
  • 84 marks (70%) or more required to pass
  • 120 minutes duration
  • Closed book
