APMG-International and Bilbao City Council launch second edition of Club del Talento to deliver ICT skills to the unemployed

Following the success of the inaugural Club de Talento in Madrid, APMG-International is collaborating with Bilbao City Council to provide unemployed people with new skill sets.
Earlier this month - the Councillor for Economy and Employment, Xabier Ochandiano, together with APMG’s Region Manager for Southern Europe, Chiara Mainolfi - presented Club del Talento to the Spanish media and the local Government of Bilbao to a positive reception.
The presentation revealed that press coverage of Club del Talento had accumulated over 2.8 million readers on both online and print formats. A meeting with Lander Beloki, Dean of the University of Mondragón – one of the key training providers involved in the initiative, enjoyed a similarly positive reception. Furthermore, an article regarding Chiara’s involvement in the initiative has been published in the ATI Journal.
Talking of her experience on cultivating the Club del Talento initiative – Chiara Mainolfi said, “It has been a pleasure to work with The Local Government of Bilbao and with the 23 local public and private companies. We are keen to promote methods and practices that can concretely support professional people all around the world in developing their competencies.
“To succeed – organizations must develop people with new skill sets so that they can deliver competitive advantage and increase their business value. Together with our partners – we can help provide education and skill development that’s consistent, transparent and recognizable by individuals, organizations and governments across the globe.”
Responding to the high unemployment rates for women in Spain – Club del Talento was piloted in Madrid in 2014 aiming to address the shortage in skills and competencies in the field of IT. This objective resonated outside of Spain as Club del Talento quickly expanded its reach across Europe.
The Madrid pilot proved successful – equipping the participating women with skills, knowledge and capabilities required to pursue a career in IT. 12 of the 14 women that participated in Club del Talento have successfully found employment.
Silvia Leal Martine, Academic Director of IT Programmes at IE Business School said, “It is impressive to observe the strong impact ICT accreditation has on the careers of young and also experienced professionals. I hope initiatives like this will help thousands of people to realize their dreams.”
Club del Talento highlights how imparting the right knowledge and skills can promote growth in competencies and best practice. The initiative works with APMG’s network of accredited trainers to incorporate and deliver training from APMG’s portfolio of professional IT Governance and Service Management certification schemes.
