As GCHQ celebrates its Centenary, so APMG celebrates certifying 100 Cyber Security courses, against their exacting GCT standards
The demand for cyber security training is rising and GCT certified courses are meeting that demand
The NCSC (a part of GCHQ) appointed the independent Certification Body, APMG International to assess the standard of Cyber Security training courses to provide potential candidates with the confidence that the options they choose will deliver what they say they will, and are consistent with industry best practice.
The UK Government identified a significant shortage of skilled cyber security professionals
The UK Government identified a significant shortage of skilled cyber security professionals and Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ) works with other government departments to address this issue.
It can be difficult for customers to trust the validity of cyber security courses now that there so many available.
Courses identified as GCT certified provide that reassurance that customers will receive training that delivers what it says it will, assessed in line with rigorous Government standards.
Over the past five years, the number of certified courses has risen to one hundred.
How does APMG help the NCSC ensure the training delivers what it says it will?
GCT courses are comprehensively assessed by APMG certified assessors – certifying the course materials, trainers and administration processes.
Richard Pharro, CEO of APMG commented: “NCSC appointed APMG to develop deliver a rigorous assessment process that ensures that the materials, trainers and organisations as a whole are consistent with their exacting standards. This was driven by requests from other Government departments for advice on the quality of training courses provided by the private sector. As the need for Cyber Security training and awareness becomes a necessity, we are in a superb position to be able to offer candidates and organisations an extensive choice of GCT Certified Courses at Courseware-Only, Awareness and Application level – meaning they can be confident that any GCT course they choose has been assessed to a high standard”.
