APMG has launched a workshop and certification to help organisations improve their use of personal data and realize value from GDPR.

The GDPR regulation comes into effect on May 25th 2018

Many treat this as just another compliance matter but the growth in the digital economy and changing expectations of the public means it’s an opportunity to make data privacy matter and build a data privacy culture within organizations.

A first step in this journey is to understand how your organization uses personal data, the key aspects of the GDPR that impact your organization and the risks and opportunities this brings.

To help make the subject engaging and relevant to your own work situation the workshop includes a number of interactive sessions using real life examples and scenario situations. Links are provided to the latest published guidance and checklists provide pointers to help with planning your GDPR initiative.

Richard Pharro, CEO, APMG International reflects: “If you compare GDPR to health and safety, before it was culturally adopted in the workplace – staff would pile boxes high on shelves, step over electrical leads and smoke in the office.

Today, it is second nature for staff to warn people of a spillage, report a trip hazard, understand that you can’t bring your own electrical items in and just plug in…. Health and Safety has been culturally adopted in the workplace – Ensuring the privacy of people’s data must follow suit.”
